The site alternative sites are:
- Site A - offshore of northeastern Florida
(Jacksonville OPAREA). - Site B – offshore of central South Carolina
(Charleston OPAREA). - Site C – offshore of southeastern North Carolina
(Cherry Point OPAREA). - Site D – offshore of northeastern Virginia
(VACAPES OPAREA).
Based on application of the site evaluation criteria and proximity to Navy fleet concentration areas, USWTR Site A off the coast of northeastern Florida, is the preferred USWTR site alternative. This alternative also offers excellent training opportunities based on bathymetric and typical water column characteristics in the area.
